A Gift of Comfort and Joy: The Witmer Family Honors Zane’s Memory with Handmade Blankets
(Cape May, NJ) Eight years ago, the Witmer family experienced the heartbreaking loss of their beloved son, Zane. Since then, they have dedicated themselves to keeping his memory alive by supporting children and families in need while raising awareness about childhood drowning prevention, a cause close to their hearts.
On the 8-year anniversary of Zane’s passing, the Witmers chose Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional to receive a truly special gift in his honor. They generously donated over 50 handmade blankets—crocheted and quilted with love—along with coloring books, crafts, and activity kits for children. These gifts provide warmth, comfort, and moments of joy to young patients during difficult hospital stays.
As Jennifer Witmer, Zane’s mom, shares, “Our greatest hope is that Zane’s memory continues to protect others. Through these donations and outreach, we’re spreading awareness and sharing Zane’s story.”
At Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, our patients and their families will experience the impact of this kindness every day. We are profoundly grateful to the Witmer family for entrusting us with a part of Zane’s legacy and helping us shine a light on a vital issue that saves lives.
