A Special Delivery for Children’s Regional Hospital

L-R: Libby DeMichele and Amanda DeMichele

Pediatric patients at the Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital received a cheerful Valentine’s surprise from their peers at Central Elementary School in Haddonfield, NJ.

As part of a community service project organized by the school’s Student Council, students made 200 homemade Valentine cards, which were hand delivered by a special postal carrier, on February 14.

Among the students who participated were second grader Libby DeMichele, 7, and fifth-grader Amanda DeMichele, 10. Libby and Amanda are daughters of Sharon Dostmann, Deputy General Counsel at Cooper, who delivered the cards to the Children’s Regional Hospital.

Dostmann said her daughters have participated in similar community service projects and were excited to make the greeting cards. She saw it as a great learning opportunity.

“I think it’s important that kids learn early the importance of helping others who are less fortunate,” Dostmann said. “For kids who are not able to be with their classmates, it was a great way to spread Valentine’s Day cheer.”
