Artist Bio:
Patricia Walkar has lived in New Jersey most of her life. She is primarily a self-taught artist who began her career with portrait making.
Today, her work is largely paintings on silk that range from flowing abstracts to striking florals. Patricia’s paintings are rich blends of color and design that reflect a journey of the spirit.
Patricia lets her paintings “tell her” their titles when they’re finished. The titles talk of a spiritual journey that honors the beauty and hope of the feminine.
“Art is transformative. It takes you into a different space, a space where there is hope.”

Artist Bio:
Sandra L. Jones brings a whimsical approach to her artwork that makes people smile. Though she has a serious side to her personality, her playful side often comes out in her paintings.
Sandra’s work reflects diverse themes in watercolor, pen and ink, and an experimental technique called tempera resist.
A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Sandra is a longtime New Jersey resident who works out of her home-based studio in Burlington City.
“Experiencing art can take viewers to another place where they can take their mind off their troubles and enjoy being somewhere else for a while.”

Artist Bio:
Originally from upstate New York, painter David Clemans owned an art gallery in Westfield before moving to Cape May Point in 1983, where he has lived and worked ever since.
David’s primary studio is located in his home, the historic Lindenwood House, perhaps one of the oldest houses in Cape May County.
The Lindenwood House, its gardens and grounds have served as inspiration for many of David’s paintings. Another great source of inspiration is the Great Egg Harbor River, where David has a log cabin and painter’s studio with two views of the river.
Oil is David’s medium and his style of painting varies from realism to impressionism.
“Discovering the visual uniqueness of southern New Jersey has greatly inspired me and provided limitless vistas for the brush and canvas.”

Artist Bio:
Diane S. Grimes finds inspiration for her paintings in the colors of the ocean, the warmth of the breeze and the ever-changing views of the sky.
The Jersey Shore has always played an important role in her life, having spent summers in Wildwood as a child and then spending family time at her parent’s home in Cape May after they retired.
A resident of New Jersey for 41 years, Diane has been an art educator for more than three decades. She currently serves as chairwoman of the Art Department at Immaculata University.
Diane lost her brother-in-law to cancer in February 2013.
“When my brother-in-law became bedridden, I showed him how to paint on his iPad. Art is so powerful and can open the door for incredible healing, especially of one’s soul.”

ALICE STEER WILSON - PRIVILEGED LIGHT

Artist Bio:
Alice Steer Wilson’s passion for art began when she was a child growing up on an Ohio farm and was fed by childhood summers on Long Island Sound.
She mastered a variety of media and genres, including oil and watercolor still life, portraits, charcoal portraits, and plein air landscapes for which she is renowned.
Formally trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Alice taught drawing and painting throughout the region.
Alice lived in Moorestown, Merchantville and Cape May from 1950 until her death from breast cancer in 2001. Her art was the fuel that kept her going during her battles with the disease.
Three of the paintings in the Cooper collection were created during Alice’s remission from 1996 to 1999.
“My mother and I were grateful for the expertise and support we received at Cooper. It is thrilling to imagine her work resting on the walls of the new cancer building, providing inspiration, hope and gentle release for families walking this path.” (Janice Wilson Stridick, daughter of Alice)

Artist Bio:
As a child, Heather Rippert spent summers at the Jersey Shore in Sea Isle, Marmora and Ocean City. Those early days by the ocean remain a source of inspiration for her paintings today.
Her watercolors embody the essence of sand and sea and capture a sense of spirituality that is both inviting and warm.
Heather received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and studied at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland.
“Art is a tremendous vehicle to aid the healing process. A peaceful and calm scene can provide a place for a person to travel through. When the body may not be capable of travel, the mind can move freely through art.”

Lucy’s impressionist paintings are inspired by nature, but she does not set out to paint the world exactly as it appears. Instead, Lucy looks to the mood of the subject she is depicting, capturing colors, lighting and image.
“What pleases me most is when a viewer studies my painting and makes an exciting discovery. Once I was told, ‘Whenever I walk into my living room and see your painting, it always gives me a lift.’ My goal is to bring hope and happiness to others.”
