Barnes & Noble Deptford’s Holiday Book Drive
Collects More Than 3,700 Books for Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper

CAMDEN, N.J. Barnes & Noble Deptford collected more than 3,700 books for Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper during its 2015 Holiday Book Drive, giving pediatric patients the gift of reading.

The book drive ran from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31. Barnes & Noble customers had the opportunity to purchase a book to donate to Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper.

““There is nothing like a good book to help a child feel better during their hospital stay,” said Susan Bass Levin, President of The Cooper Foundation. “We are thankful to Barnes & Noble Deptford for choosing the Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper as the beneficiary of its Holiday Book Drive and for the generosity of its customers.” ”

Cooper Health System staff along with representatives from Barnes & Noble Deptford staff and special guest, Cookie Mouse, recently distributed books to patients in the Pediatric Unit and read a story to children.

The Johnny M Foundation has pledged $750,000 to establish the Johnny Murabito Child Life Program at Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper. In addition to the new playroom and family room, the gift will support the expansion of the activities offered by the Child Life Program, including art and music therapy.

“Our customers showed the true spirit of the season with their generous donations of books,” said Jen-Na Hollis, Barnes & Noble’s Community Business Development Manager. “We are delighted to partner with The Cooper Foundation and Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper to give the gift of reading to pediatric patients.”
