Celebrating the Cape Regional Auxiliary’s Impact on Health Care
A Legacy of Service Since 1951
For more than 70 years, the Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional Auxiliary has been a driving force behind better care, stronger communities, and a healthier Cape May County. With tireless dedication and a deep commitment to service, this remarkable group of volunteers brings Cooper’s mission to life—raising funds, supporting patients, and building community connections that elevate healthcare for all.
A Bold Commitment to Surgical Care
One of the Auxiliary’s most ambitious initiatives is its $1.5 million pledge to the Claire C. Brodesser Surgery Center Capital Campaign. As of November 2024, they’ve raised an incredible $1,050,000, bringing us significantly closer to expanding access to high-quality surgical care for families across our region.
Thrift Shops That Transform Lives
Through two vibrant EtCetera Thrift Shops in Cape May Court House and North Cape May, volunteers turn gently used donations into meaningful contributions for hospital initiatives. Every purchase directly supports patient care—making it a win for shoppers and the community alike.
This year, the EtCetera Thrift Shop received “Best of the Jersey Shore – Gold” honors, a well-deserved recognition of its loyal customer base, diverse selection, and the passionate volunteers who make it all possible. The shop has truly become a community treasure.
Creative Fundraising That Brings People Together
The Auxiliary hosts a wide range of community-centered fundraisers throughout the year—including uniform and book sales, a “no-bake” bake sale during the holidays, a popular 50/50 raffle, and semi-annual bingo nights that bring together friends, families, patients, and staff. Always full of energy and new ideas, the Auxiliary continues to find innovative ways to support the hospital’s mission.
County-Wide Impact, Local Leadership
With branches in Cape May, Greater Wildwood, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Lower Township (TWIGS), and Middle Township (MASH)—plus TeamCape, a dedicated group of hospital staff volunteers—the Auxiliary’s reach extends across Cape May County.
