Cherry Hill East High School Students Collect Supplies for Operation Backpack
Students from Cherry Hill East High School’s Junior State of America (JSA) Chapter recently stopped by The Cooper Foundation to donate 21 backpacks filled with school supplies to Operation Backpack.
“We chose to donate to Operation Backpack because JSA fundraising this year was focused on education reform. We were doing our research and came across this amazing cause,” said Jane Sul, JSA President.
The students raised money to buy the backpacks and supplies by selling Pura Vida bracelets at their school. In the end, over 100 bracelets were sold.
“We did it by going to all of the homerooms and telling everyone about how buying a bracelet could really help,” said Sul.
The students also put out a donation box to collect supplies.
Operation Backpack, a partnership with Center for Family Services, provides new backpacks filled with school supplies to elementary, middle and high school students in the Cooper Plaza and Lanning Square neighborhoods of Camden.
