This October, the Cherry Hill High School West united the community through their annual “Spike Out Cancer” event, raising $1,410 for MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Earlier in the year, the girls softball team’s “Strike Out Cancer” event brought in $800, bringing the combined total to $2,210 to support cancer research and patient care.

The volleyball team enhanced the event’s excitement by selling custom t-shirts and snacks, blending their passion for the game with a commitment to a vital cause. We’re deeply grateful for their dedication and proud they chose Cooper as their beneficiary, creating a meaningful impact through their efforts.

These grassroots fundraisers, like the annual “Spike Out” and “Strike Out Cancer” events, are essential to Cooper’s mission of providing high-quality, compassionate health care to South Jersey and beyond. Initiated seven years ago by the Caputo family, these events have raised thousands for cancer care.

What began with Sal and Jackie Caputo’s daughter Alexa, a volleyball senior at the time, continues with their younger daughter, Theresa, who now plays on both the volleyball and softball teams at West High School, carrying forward the family’s inspiring legacy.
