Cooper ED Chief Pledges Sim Lab Support

Cooper’s Simulation Laboratory will benefit from all funds raised at Cooper’s Red Hot Gala, coming up March 26 at the Hyatt-Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. Physicians from many departments are contributing, including the Chief of the Emergency Department, Dr. Michael Chansky.

“Nothing less than the best” is a phrase heard often around the Emergency Department. It means doing everything possible for a patient, but doing everything at the very highest level of competence and quality. As Chief, Dr. Chansky personifies that statement.

Dr. Chansky graduated from the University of Maryland in 1976 and received his MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry in 1980. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1984, Dr. Chansky joined the faculty of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and in 1985 became Section Head of Emergency Medicine at Cooper. When Robert Wood Johnson added an Academic Department of Emergency Medicine in 1997, he was named Acting Chair.

Dr. Chansky’s leadership in education has been recognized extensively, with 10 teaching awards and a recent award from Robert Wood Johnson’s Alumni Association for outstanding contributions to medical students. He serves actively on several committees at Cooper, Robert Wood Johnson, and the emerging Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. He also devotes many hours to faculty recruitment and development. However, he most enjoys working side by side with residents and students.

Thank you, Dr. Chansky, for giving Cooper “Nothing less than the best!” Learn more and get updates by visiting the Red Hot Gala web page at cooperhealth.org/redhot!
