Cooper Foundation Announces $100,000 Gift from IBEW Local 351

The Cooper Foundation today announced a $100,000 gift from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 351 in support of the ongoing $50 million Cooper Campaign for the continued growth of Cooper University Hospital.
“The members of IBEW Local 351 have always been generous supporters of Cooper and of the South Jersey region, and we thank them,” said George E. Norcross, III, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Cooper Health System and Cooper University Hospital. “This donation will help ensure families from across the region will continue to have access to world class healthcare, right here in South Jersey.”
In appreciation of the contribution, the Foundation unveiled a sign outside the hospital gift shop recognizing IBEW Local 351 for its generosity. In attendance for the sign unveiling were: John P. Sheridan, Jr., President and CEO, Cooper University Health Care; Adrienne Kirby, Senior Executive Vice President and COO, Cooper University Health Care; Susan Bass Levin, President and CEO, The Cooper Foundation; Sen. Donald Norcross, also an IBEW member; Edward Gant, Business Manager, IBEW Local 351, and several other IBEW officers.
“IBEW Local 351 is proud to make this gift in support of Cooper University Hospital,” Gant said. “Our members and their families live in South Jersey, and we recognize how important it is to have high quality healthcare that we can count on. Moreover, Cooper is a significant contributor to our region’s economy, and its growth will help create and sustain more good-paying jobs in our community.”
The cornerstone of The Cooper Campaign is the construction of the new $100 million Cooper Cancer Institute, located on the Cooper Health Sciences Campus in Camden and opening in the fall of 2013. The Campaign will also support new, advanced programs and technology at the Cooper Heart Institute, the Bone and Joint Institute, the Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper and the Trauma Center.
“The generosity of IBEW Local 351 will help enable Cooper to continue its most dramatic expansion in its 125-year history,” said Levin. “Support for Cooper makes a difference in the lives of patients and their families every single day and goes a long way in supporting the revitalization of neighborhoods surrounding the Cooper Health Sciences Campus.”
