Cooper Foundation Announces First Research Grants
The Cooper Foundation is pleased to announce that Ryan Arnold, MD and William Sirover, MD will be the first awardees of its research grants administered through the Cooper Research Institute.
Dr. Arnold, the awardee in the category of researchers who have completed their residency/fellowship within the past 5 years, will use his award to study empiric resuscitation protocol targeting lactate normalization to prevent development of septic shock.
Dr. Sirover, the awardee in the category of researchers with greater than five years experience, will study oxalate levels in hemodialysis patients in order to lay the foundation for the safe use of vitamin C adjunctive therapy for anemia. Each will receive a one-time award of $25,000.
The Foundation Board appreciates the effort expended by all the applicants and thanks them for their well-crafted and deserving proposals. It is the Board’s sincere hope that the applicants will apply again during the next funding cycle. The Foundation also thanks the Cooper research Oversight Committee for providing critical and impartial review of all the submitted proposals.
In keeping with its charter, the Cooper Foundation has made these grants available to improve the health of our patients while simultaneously fostering the academic career development of our researchers. It is the hope of the Foundation that this research support will result in scholarly publications and additional research grants for future research.
