Cooper Red Hot Gala Raises $1.4 Million for Cooper Bone and Joint Institute

The Chairman of the Cooper Board of Trustees, George E. Norcross III, announced tonight that The Cooper Foundation raised $1.4 million at the Cooper Red Hot Gala to benefit the Cooper Bone and Joint Institute and set a record of raising a total of $5.5 million over the past four years to support research and patient care at Cooper University Health Care.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of our donors and their ongoing support for Cooper,” said Norcross, who hosted the Gala. “The world-class Cooper Bone and Joint Institute is a shining example of the excellent care we offer patients throughout Cooper University Health Care.”

More than 800 people attended the Gala, which is one of the largest charitable fundraisers in the region. The event honored Lawrence S. Miller, M.D., Chief and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Medical Director of the Cooper Bone and Joint Institute, and Richard Lackman, M.D., Director of the Orthopaedic Oncology Center. This year’s Gala, held at Vie in Philadelphia, featured entertainment by Masquerade, and outstanding food and specialty cocktails, including the signature Cooper-tini. A silent auction offered more than 100 red-hot items for bid, including, a day at Eagles Training Camp with ESPN commentator Sal Paolantonio, VIP tickets to the Kelly Ripa Show, Frank Sinatra’s sheet music, a signed note from J. Edgar Hoover, and tickets to Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Cher, Dave Mathews and many more of this season’s hottest concerts.
