Deborah L. Krauss-Kelleher’s Gift to Support Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper

Deborah L. Krauss-Kelleher

When Deborah L. Krauss-Kelleher first walked through the new MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper earlier this fall, she was enthralled by the architecture’s elegance, soothing colors and healing artwork. Even more impressive was Cooper’s recent partnership with the nation’s leading cancer center.

“To see the transformation of cancer treatment today has been incredible,” said Krauss-Kelleher, who recalls very sterile hospital settings while working as a secretary in hematology oncology before returning to school to pursue her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Krauss-Kelleher continued working in health care for a number of years before working at American Water, where she currently serves as head of Compensation and Benefits.

A long-standing member of The Cooper Foundation Board of Trustees and a host committee member of the Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Brunch, she is personally invested in the fight against cancer. Her father died of prostate cancer 14 years ago.

Krauss-Kelleher recently made a $15,000 gift to The Cooper Campaign through her company stock to support Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.

“The setting of the new cancer center at Cooper is beautiful, the reputation of MD Anderson Cancer Center is stellar and I thought it would be a worthwhile cause to support,” she continued. “When you see the strides cancer treatment has made, it’s very fulfilling.”

Krauss-Kelleher encourages others to consider donating stocks or mutual funds to The Cooper Foundation. This option allows you to make a larger gift than otherwise possible and receive a charitable tax deduction for the value of the donated stock.
