Dink For a Cure: $13K Raised for Cooper’s Pink & Teal Cancer Fund
“Dink for a Cure”, a vibrant pickleball fundraising event aimed at supporting MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, was held May 10 at the Players Courtyard in Moorestown, NJ. Dink is a term used for a shot made in the racket-and-ball game of pickleball.
Co-hosts Mandy Huggard and Mary Ryan shared their passion for the Pink Roses Teal Magnolias movement and why they raise money for the fund.
“I am a breast cancer survivor and Cooper has been instrumental in my care, and I’m super excited to be able to give back to the organization that helped me through the process,” event co-host Mandy Huggard told The Sun recently.
“I became involved with Pink & Teal in honor and memory of my late friend and mentor, Sandy Levenson, a successful and well-known local realtor, who was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2011,” said Mary Ryan, a sales associate with Fox & Roach at Cherry Hill.
“Sandy chaired the Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Committee while she was in remission and when she passed away in 2014 I decided to become involved with Pink & Teal in her memory.”
The turnout for Dink for a Cure surpassed expectations, with over 100 attendees joining forces to raise funds for a worthy cause. Through generous donations and spirited gameplay, participants made a tangible difference in the fight against breast and gynecological cancers.
The Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Fund has been a vital source of support for cancer patients since 2010, funding research and providing essential services. Keeping donations local ensures that every dollar raised directly benefits patients at MD Anderson.
As the sun set on a successful evening, the sense of community and camaraderie was palpable. Dink for a Cure not only raised $13,000 for the Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Fund but also inspired hope and solidarity among all who participated.
In the ongoing battle against cancer, events like Dink for a Cure serve as reminders that together, we can make a meaningful impact. Let’s continue to support this important cause and look forward to future opportunities to come together for a common purpose.
