Knowing that donations to the Cooper Red Hot Gala support our patients and our local community, why do you choose to give to Cooper?
I know that my gift will have a direct impact on our community in a very tangible way. Two Cooper Foundation Funds are close to my heart – The Dr. Diane Barton Complementary Medicine Program Fund and The MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Patient in Need Fund.
Who inspired you to become a doctor?
I was born in Northern Spain and moved to the United States when I was a young girl. I was inspired by the doctor who served our remote community. I was also inspired by my paternal grandfather who had a 6th grade education, but was known as a healer in our village. Both touched people at key points in their life and were respected by the community.
