Learn More About the Cooper Trauma Center
Proceeds from the 2015 Cooper Red Hot Gala will benefit the Cooper Trauma Center to ensure that those in our region who suffer an accident or serious injury will always have access to the very best care available.
The Cooper Trauma Center is one of the country’s premier trauma facilities. Each year we provide life-saving care and treatment to more than 2,700 adults and children involved in motor vehicle crashes, pedestrian and work-related accidents, falls, and interpersonal violence.
Our facility is one of only three State-Designated Level I Trauma Centers in New Jersey. This means we are able to furnish the most advanced and immediate quality care to gravely injured patients. We are equipped with state-of-the-art life-saving technology and are staffed 24 hours a day by highly skilled teams of trauma surgeons, anesthesiologists, trauma nurses, and on-call consultants. These staff are supported by a blood bank and vital laboratory and diagnostic radiology services.
To make specialized care available to injured children, pediatric trauma surgeons are on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Center has a separate admitting area for the specific emotional and medical needs of younger patients. Cooper is also prepared to accept trauma patients by helicopter. With a full-featured resuscitation room at the helipad, patients are evaluated and treated without delay.
Because we know that many serious injuries can be avoided with common sense and some practical steps, the Trauma Center offers prevention programs for school districts and community groups. These programs are easy to participate in and address driver education, prom night precautions, drug and alcohol abuse, risk-taking safeguards, summer safety and more.
