MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Impresses Pink and Teal Host Committee Member
Dear Pink Roses and Teal Magnolias Friends:
I had the opportunity to recently take a tour of the new MD Anderson at Cooper building with Susan Bass Levin, who you may know is the President and CEO of the Cooper Foundation. Here is what I found:
– The facility is amazing. The architecture and interior layout provide a welcoming, light-filled environment that is very calming and aesthetically pleasing.
– Artwork abounds, and it has all been created by NJ artists. Again, the colors of the paintings and the tones on the walls contribute to an uplifting atmosphere, much different that I have seen in other medical buildings.
– While the facility is very busy, there is room to grow and there is “shell” space that is hidden behind doors that will allow for expansion. Already, the demand for services has led to planning for a dedicated Breast Cancer section that will open in 2015.
-There is a beautiful outdoor roof garden for the use of patients and visitors. Really lovely!
– The staff is justifiably proud of their new home. The partnership of MD Anderson and Cooper is working very well, but the “family feeling” and personal touch of Cooper remains.
-The valet parking service is convenient and gives visitors front-door drop-off and pick-up.
I was so happy to see some of the outcomes of our fund-raising efforts over the past years and know that while patients will continue to have access to world-class care, they can do so in this beautiful new location. The Voorhees branch on Centennial Boulevard is being updated as well, so there are excellent choices for care within our neighborhoods!
Love to all and Happy Holidays,
