At The Cooper Foundation, we are proud to work alongside community partners like Michaels, whose mission of creating communities that inspire possibilities aligns with our commitment to advancing cancer research and supporting those impacted by the disease.

Recently, we joined forces with Michaels’ Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) for a meaningful fundraiser benefiting cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. They raised $3,610 for Pink Roses Teal Magnolias, further supporting the research, diagnosis and treatment of women’s cancer.

WIN, one of Michaels’ employee resource groups, embodied the organization’s core values—“Let’s Go Out A Little Further” and “Do Well By Doing The Extraordinary”—through this impactful initiative. By working together, WIN and The Cooper Foundation demonstrated the power of collaboration and compassion to make a tangible difference.

A highlight of the campaign was the sale of custom-designed pink hats, adorned with Michaels’ signature origami bird logo—a symbol of hope and resilience. Each purchase directly supported cancer research, and Michaels’ generous matching donation doubled the funds raised, amplifying the impact of the community’s efforts.

Launched during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2024, the fundraiser inspired Michaels’ team members to show their support by wearing pink and decorating their workspaces. The initiative concluded with a heartfelt gathering, where employees shared personal stories, honored loved ones affected by cancer, and celebrated the collective strength of their community.
