Mothers Matter Deliver Care Packages to MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper

On December 6th, Mothers Matter, a program established by The Lauren Rose Albert Foundation to support women in need, delivered 50 thoughtfully curated care packages to female patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Each package, filled with personal care and beauty products, was designed to bring moments of comfort and joy to women undergoing treatment. This generous initiative reflects Mothers Matter’s commitment to uplifting spirits and reminding these brave individuals that they are not alone in their journey. The delivery was met with immense gratitude, highlighting the profound impact of small acts of kindness during challenging times.

The Mothers Matter program was established in 2000 with the mission of providing women with personal care and toiletry items. Since its inception, this program has impacted thousands of women from diverse backgrounds and age groups, offering support to those facing personal or family illness, tragedy, or other significant challenges.

Their first year, the program was initiated with a donation of $100 and a word-of-mouth collection drive that generated enough to fill 265 gift baskets for needy moms at three day care centers and two women’s shelters on Mother’s Day. To their surprise, these gift baskets were the only gifts some mothers received that Mother’s Day, fueling their passion and dedication to the cause.

Today, Mothers Matter headquarters in Sewell, NJ processes between 60,000 and 75,000 products a year. Volunteers assemble and distribute over 4,200 gift bags a year, with approximately half delivered on Mother’s Day and the remainder throughout the year. Gift bags are distributed to about 35 locations, including daycare centers, shelters, and other facilities. MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper remains one of their year-round commitments.

We are grateful for Mothers Matter and their ability to bring light to our patients during difficult times.
