Nearly $4 million Raised for 14th Annual Cooper Red Hot Gala, Philly Sports Community Heroes Ron and Liz Jaworski Honored
The Coooper Foundation has again raised nearly $4 million for its 14th Annual Red Hot Gala, breaking previous records with more sponsors, attendees and donations than ever before. The Gala is being held tonight, September 27 at the TRIAD1828 CENTRE on the Camden waterfront, where the extraordinary legacy and community impact of local legends Ron and Liz Jaworski will be celebrated.
Close to 1,000 guests are expected to attend this year’s event, hosted by George E. Norcross III, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cooper University Health Care, and Philip A. Norcross, Esq., chairman of The Cooper Foundation Board. Several NFL greats and Philadelphia Eagles legends have also showed their support to celebrate the Jaworskis’ remarkable impact both on and off the field.
“Ron and Liz Jaworski are the embodiment of what it means to be ‘Cooper people’—leading by example and giving back to the Camden and South Jersey communities with unwavering dedication and enthusiasm,” said Philip A. Norcross, Esq., chairman of The Cooper Foundation Board. “Their deep connection to the region, which began with Ron’s time playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, has evolved into an enduring legacy. Their passion for supporting at-risk youth and their philanthropic efforts leave an incredible mark on the region and inspire future generations.”
“The Jaworskis are an iconic family, and we are proud to have them as part of the Cooper team helping us drive remarkable growth and change in South Jersey and the surrounding communities,” said George E. Norcross III, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Cooper Health System, Cooper University Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. “As Cooper rounds off its 138th year, we look to the future with an unprecedented $3 billion Camden campus expansion that will transform Cooper and the community.”
“We are deeply honored to be recognized at this year’s Cooper Red Hot Gala and grateful to be among others who truly understand the incredible work Cooper is doing in the region,” said Philly sports legend Ron Jaworski. “Supporting Cooper was a natural transition for my wife Liz and me, not only because of the dedicated doctors, nurses and medical teams, but also because of the remarkable impact they continue to make, inspiring us to proudly stand with them in their mission.”
“Thanks to the collective efforts of our generous supporters, the Cooper Red Hot Gala has raised nearly $25 million since its inception,” said Kevin M. O’Dowd, JD, co-CEO of Cooper. “We are extremely grateful to those, such as the Jaworski family, who believe in Cooper and trust us to deliver the best community-driven care in the region.”
“Knowing we have the unwavering support of our donors and the entire community behind them, our teams are truly inspired to achieve extraordinary things,” said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, co-CEO of Cooper.
Cooper’s new investment, Project Imagine – the largest in Camden County’s history and one of the largest in eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey – will dramatically expand the academic health system’s main campus to meet the current and future projected demand at Cooper University Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. The expansion, first announced in September 2022, is expected to break ground on its first tower in November.
