Pickleball with a Purpose: “Dink for a Cure” Raises Nearly $11,000 for MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper

On May 10, 2025, more than 100 community members gathered at the Players Courtyard in Moorestown, NJ, for the second annual “Dink for a Cure,” a vibrant and spirited pickleball fundraiser benefiting the Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Fund at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. The event raised nearly $11,000 to support breast and gynecologic cancer research and patient services.
The event was co-hosted by Mandy Huggard and Mary Ryan, who shared personal connections to the cause and a deep commitment to keeping donations local.
“I’m a breast cancer survivor, and Cooper has played such a vital role in my care,” said Mandy Huggard. “It means so much to give back to the organization that supported me through my journey.”
Mary Ryan, a sales associate with Fox & Roach in Cherry Hill, added, “I became involved in Pink & Teal in honor of my late friend and mentor, Sandy Levenson, who bravely fought uterine cancer. Sandy chaired the Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Committee during her remission, and after her passing in 2014, I knew I wanted to continue her legacy.”
The name “Dink for a Cure” draws from the term “dink,” a soft, strategic shot in pickleball—a nod to the fun and competitive spirit of the event.
Since 2010, the Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Fund has helped fuel groundbreaking cancer research and vital patient services at MD Anderson at Cooper. Events like this not only raise critical funds but also build a sense of community, hope, and support for those facing cancer.
“Dink for a Cure” wasn’t just about the game—it was about making a meaningful difference, together.
