On Saturday, September 6, the Jersey Shore community came together in Sea Isle for the annual Run for Nurses 5K. With nearly 120 runners and walkers—their largest turnout yet—the event raised $10,000 in support of the Robert J. Sorenson Employee Education Scholarship and the Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship at Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional.

Hosted by Dalrymple’s Card & Gift Shoppe, the Run for Nurses was established in 2019 to support nurses after store owners, Barbara and Charles Dalrymple, were touched by the community’s kindness. Over the years, Barbara underwent several heart procedures, and throughout her treatment, the nurses on her care team went above and beyond—checking in often, reassuring her family, and demonstrating extraordinary compassion. Inspired by this experience, and by their son and two employees pursuing careers in nursing, the Dalrymples felt compelled to give back to the community that has given so much to them.

The Dalrymples’ commitment, combined with the community’s generous support, ensures that nurses and future health care professionals have the resources they need to thrive. Thank you to the Dalrymples and the Run for Nurses for celebrating the compassion of caregivers and investing in the next generation of health care heroes.
