Successful “Talk While You Walk/5K Run For Peggy Spiegler” Draws Biggest Crowd Ever

Besides a beautiful day, the organizers of the Peggy Spiegler Melanoma Research Foundation were grateful for the more than 270 registrants that participated in the “Talk While You Walk/5K Run For Peggy Spiegler” fundraiser on June 25.

The event, held at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, welcomed a diverse group – from toddlers in their sunglasses and strollers to runners in their 70s – for the 5K run at 9 AM, walk at 9:15, and Kids Fun Run and activities following the race. Tables with educational information about melanoma and other health and wellness topics also were available for browsing.

Neil Spiegler, executive director of the Peggy Spiegler Melanoma Research Foundation, reported the highest turnout ever for the event, which is in its third year. Nearly 30 volunteers assisted during the day, also a record.

A portion of proceeds from the run/walk will benefit Cooper University Hospital’s Cooper Cancer Institute.
