“Summer in the City” Concert Series Kicks Off July 7
The second annual “Summer in the City” Music Festival will begin its weekly free neighborhood concerts this Thursday at Cooper Commons Park. Local band “Red KoolAde Jazz” will entertain in the first of four free concerts being held in neighborhood parks around Camden.
The concert on Thursday will start at 5:30 p.m. at Cooper Commons Park, located at 6th and Washington Streets in Camden.
The “Summer in the City” Music Festival is sponsored by Cooper University Hospital, Garden State Discovery Museum, Campbell Soup Company and Subaru. It was planned and organized by The Cooper Foundation, Cooper’s Ferry Development Corporation, Cooper Lanning Civic Association, and Lanning Square West Residents in Action. The goal of “Summer in the City” is to promote community involvement and showcase the beautiful neighborhood parks in the Cooper Plaza and Lanning Square neighborhoods.
Other “Summer in the City” Music Festival performances include:
July 14, 5:30 p.m. – “To the Max” at Cooper Commons Park, 6th & Washington Streets
July 21, 5:30 p.m. – “The Sensational Universal African Drum & Dance Ensemble” at Lanning Square Park, 4th & Clinton Streets
July 28, 5:30 p.m. – “Jimmy Jorge & The Latin Express” at Lanning Square Park, 4th & Clinton Streets
Free refreshments and children’s activities will also be provided during the concerts. All are invited to attend!
